Sarah Townsend Counseling

My Story

I have lived in Seattle, WA for about 10 years but grew up on the East Coast. I moved here to be close to the mountains and am drawn to the easy-going life style of West Coast living. I have been working in the social services since 2002, and started my career working in a group home setting with foster kids. I have a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Montana with an emphasis in clinical psychology and a MA from Antioch in Child, Couple and Family Therapy. Today I operate my practice from a comfortable office in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood, and can arrange in-home counseling sessions on a case-by-case basis. Of course virtual appointments and telehealth check-ins are always welcome and available too.

My hope with offering in-home counseling is that it will help reduce stress and and provide flexibility for families with small children. On a personal note having my own child so far away from my east coast roots has been very challenging without the solid foundation of a family. Looking back on those hardships I just really needed someone to listen. I didn't want opinions, suggestions or book recommendations. I wanted to be honest and authentic about all of the unfamiliar feeling that were coming up for me having been a first time mom without family support. I was terrified yet felt this endless guilt. I know now that having the courage and strength to reach out during challenging times.
